Marshfield’s Jack Brait Meets the World’s Most Famous Director of All Time
Editor’s Note: Marshfield resident Jack Brait asked to share this story in his own words about a once-in-a-lifetime experience attending the New York City premiere of Disclosure Day and meeting director Steven Spielberg. Photos provided by Jack Brait.
Hi, my name is Jack Brait from Marshfield, MA. I have autism and earlier this month, I had one of the most epic days to ever have in my whole life. My biggest dream is to see, or meet, Steven Spielberg in person. My favorite movie ever is Jaws. As a big-time movie lover, I was extremely thrilled to have this quick opportunity.
My mom, Michele Brait, Kim Bouressa, and I were invited to go to the New York City premiere of his newest movie, Disclosure Day, at the last minute.
Steven Spielberg was such a nice and friendly guy when I met him. How did I meet him?
After my parents and Kim Bouressa bought three very expensive tickets for the New York premiere of Disclosure Day, my mom, Kim, and I went to New York City. There, one of the premiere event staff helpers showed us the whole venue, where I could take a picture in front of the step-and-repeat wall of the movie’s poster. Although there wasn’t an actual red carpet, it was a dark-colored carpet. The helper showed us the spot where a group of photographers take tons of pictures of the cast and crew of the movie in front of the step-and-repeat wall of the movie’s poster.
At one point, after my mom and I told the helper I love meeting famous people, she understood that me quickly meeting Steven Spielberg would mean so much to me. So she followed my mom, Kim, and me back outside the entrance of the venue, the same area where I took my picture in front of the step-and-repeat wall of the poster.
As we were back there, Steven Spielberg was approaching. When I saw him, I gasped, and another premiere event staff helper walked me over to Spielberg. The other helper introduced Steven Spielberg to me.
“Hi Jack, nice to see you,” Spielberg said to me as he shook my hand.
“Hi Steven, nice to meet you too,” I replied.
I asked to do a quick picture together, and we did. I was appropriate and calm the whole time during the 30-second interaction, like a random kind gentleman.
That’s me shaking Steven Spielberg’s hand!
When my mom and Kim Bouressa saw the interaction in person, they cried happy tears because they knew how much meeting Steven Spielberg would make me very happy.
Unfortunately, it’s too hard for everybody to control their excitement when they see their favorite actor or filmmaker. But for me, I was able to be calm the whole interaction when I met Steven Spielberg.
After I met Spielberg, my mom, Kim Bouressa, the event helper, and I went straight to the theater’s auditorium, sitting on the balcony. In the meantime, I hugged the helper three times to thank her, and I thanked the other helper who introduced me to Steven Spielberg for making my biggest dream come true.
I called my dad, Robert, to see the two pictures and the video of the whole interaction. When he first saw it, his reaction was, “Are you kidding me?!” because he was shocked in an unbelievable way.
I thanked my dad, my mom, and Kim the most for making my biggest dream come true.
As the movie started, there was an introduction with Steven Spielberg on stage with the cast in person. Disclosure Day was a good movie. It was similar to Close Encounters of the Third Kind because it is a science-fiction action thriller with vehicle suspense.
I am now happy since attending the Disclosure Day event, and I wanted to share it with all the people from Marshfield, MA. I hope everyone enjoys this amazing story as much as I enjoyed living it!
